Currently, I spend most of my time building the Splunk UI Design System. I’m a big believer in taking initiative, which has led me to head up projects for Splunk Mobile, lead our accessibility outreach efforts, and even dive into detailed illustration work. After all, the best way to learn about our system is to design with it for different products.
I grew up in the Bay Area, where I was introduced to tech as a career path early. I spent a lot of time drawing, but was also constantly curious about how the newest devices worked, often falling down rabbit holes of tech review videos. A coding class in high school eventually opened my eyes to product design, and I realized it was the perfect way to blend those interests.
I took that passion to UC Davis, where I earned my degree in Design with minors in Computer Science and Art Studio. That background has been a huge asset in the design system world, helping me speak the same language as both designers and engineers to get complex projects developed and shipped.
Design philosophy
Built > perfected idea
I started my career off as a design engineer intern, so building to test early and iterate quickly stayed a part of my DNA. I learned that it's better to get a prototype out to gather feedback as soon as possible to confirm customer expectations and mental models.
design extensibly
Working on design systems taught me to future-proof everything I build. By designing modularly and anticipating how needs might shift, I make sure my work stays flexible enough to adapt to whatever decisions come down the road.
Stay curious
I believe in staying curious and learning as much as possible, especially when I am surrounded by talented teammates. I’ve realized that my skills are all interconnected; a lesson learned in one area always finds a way to make my other work stronger.
Remember my intro?
functional ceramicist
I’ve spent the last decade wheel-throwing as a way to decompress and create functional pieces for my home. A recent favorite is a three-pronged sponge holder I designed to fit a tiny sink. To keep things sustainable, I’m selective about what I fire, only keeping my best work and what I'll use.
casual angler
My fishing hobby is a result of my curiosity and sheer determination. I woke up one day inspired to fish after playing Stardew Valley and learned everything through Youtube videos, friends, and fellow anglers on the pier. So far, I’ve gotten pretty good at catching crabs with snares and nets, but I'm still waiting on my first fish.
Exploratory dancer
Dancing has always been a great way for me to build community and stay healthy. Lately, I’ve been using it as a way to push my boundaries by jumping into styles I’ve never tried before. Some of my favorites include hip hop, contemporary, heels, k-pop, and Chinese fusion.
